Cheap And Easy Party Food - Throw A Great Party Without Spending A Fortune

by: Angela Tyler

If you are planning a party, you already know that food can be one of your biggest expenses. However, you can take several steps to cut your party food costs. It is not necessary to purchase expensive appetizers and beverages to throw a great party. A little imagination and effort can make your party a memorable occasion.

Here are some ideas and suggestions to help you save money on food when throwing your next party:

Have a potluck

A potluck is certainly cheaper than hiring a caterer and you will save a lot of time and money by having your guests prepare a dish to share with others. Potluck is fun and you will surely end up with an interesting assortment of foods. To make things simpler, include a suggestion as to what type of dish you would like your guests to bring such as a dessert, vegetable, or salad.

Finger foods are fun

Small sandwiches, chips, dips, and vegetable trays are relatively inexpensive and you won't need to bother with place settings and bringing out your best china. Simply supply napkins and small paper plates and allow your guests to serve themselves from an assortment of bite size goodies.

Back to basics

Fruit and cheese are excellent choices for casual party foods that don't require fancy place settings or dishes. Buy fresh fruit in season when you are likely to find certain varieties on sale and fill your table will a variety of cheeses, crackers, and perhaps olives and nuts.

Go Italian

If your party will be a dinner party where fingers foods are not appropriate, you can try spaghetti with garlic bread and salad, or you could find a good deal on pizza that you can have delivered. You will save time and it is quite easy to find a bargain on different types of pizza.

Thrifty Thirst Quenchers

For party beverages, two-liter soft drinks and bottled water are inexpensive and very easy to serve. Provide ice and cups and allow your guests to serve themselves. Tea and coffee are cheap as is lemonade that you make fresh or from concentrate.

Your party does not have to cost a lot of money to be a huge success. Look for sales on the foods and beverages you choose and plan ahead so you will have time to shop around be fore you buy.

About The Author

Angela Tyler

Visit http://www.homeorganizationhelp.com for more ways to decorate your home quickly and easily, and http://www.freequickrecipes.com for delicious meal ideas.

Cheap Contact Lenses for Halloween - Tips for Success

by: James Perez

Everybody is always trying to top their Halloween costume
from last year with something even wilder and crazier. You
may have noticed costume contact lenses that are available
with all kinds of different scary effects for Halloween.
They?re really great if you want to scare your friends, but
when you get ready to buy some cheap contact lenses for
Halloween, just make sure you follow some important tips
to avoid any problems.

Tip 1 ? Getting The Right Fit

When you are about to order some cheap contact lenses for
Halloween, you?ll notice that they can appear to be one-
size-fits-all. Be careful! Some suppliers sell them this way,
but you may want to avoid those companies because a one-
size-fits-all attitude towards contacts can be dangerous to
your eye health. You can probably buy crazy colored
contacts without any problem. But before you do, get a
prescription first, and order only from places that can
provide your prescription. Your doctor?s prescription is
basically a description of the shape and size of your eye,
which is necessary to make sure that the lenses you order
will fit your eye, and not cause any rubbing, injury or
infection to your eyes.

Tip 2 ? Making The Right Choice

Once you have your prescription and you?ve found a
company that can provide it, you?ll want to pick the right
lenses to coordinate with whatever costume or theme
you?ve selected for Halloween this year. If you wear a
clown outfit, you don?t want eyes that look like a zombie or
vampire (unless, of course, you want to be a scary clown).
Keep your costume in mind when you select the style of
contact lenses you want to order. There are all kinds of
crazy, colored lenses to choose from for this. If you?re
going to be a ghost or something else scary, you can order
zombie lenses, pitch black contact lenses, fire, bloodshot
eyes, or something similar. If your theme is fun, like Mardi
Gras or patriotism, try red spirals or red-white-and-blue,
among other possibilities.

Tip 3 ? Following The Right Instructions

When you order your cheap contact lenses for Halloween,
you may have the false impression that you don?t have to
take care of them like you do with regular prescription
contact lenses that someone might wear for vision
correction. This is a false assumption that many people
make. If you don?t exercise normal care and caution with
your cheap special effects lenses, you may regret it because
you can end up with eye infections or injury as a result. To
avoid these unfortunate consequences, never share your
lenses with anyone else. Don?t wear them for lengths of
time that are beyond the time periods they are designed for;
for example, if they are daily lenses, don?t try to keep them
in 24-hours-a-day like extended wear lenses. Also, if you
plan to re-use them more than once, take care to clean them
properly and store them overnight in a good contact lens
solution.

Cheap contact lenses for Halloween are great for having
fun and saving money. Just remember the above tips and
you?ll be able to enjoy a safe and happy Halloween. Your
eyes are one of the most important assets you have. Don?t
risk them by getting cheap lenses without a prescription, or
being careless in how you wear or clean them. A little
effort is all it takes to be safe and healthy, and to have a
great Halloween, listening to the blood-curdling screams
when your friends see your bloodshot eyes, pitch black
mirrored eyes, or whatever ghastly delight you decide to
choose for your costume.

About The Author

James Perez is the webmaster for www.aa-contact-lenses.com an informative site about contact lenses.
10 Travel Tips

by: Jeff Lakie

Going away on vacation should be an enjoyable experience but everyone has a horror story to tell. Perhaps your hotel room was robbed, or perhaps a careless spouse accidentally gambled away more money than they realized, or perhaps you simply lost your wallets somewhere between the airport and hotel. Here are 10 ways to make sure that your trip is a success in spite of those obstacles.

1.	Use a hidden wallet to carry most of your valuables and identification.

2.	If you feel comfortable sending it in the mail, mail a money order or a traveler's checks to yourself at your hotel so that even if you lose some of your money, more will be coming.

3.	While you don't have to be too strict, you should have an agenda and leave it with someone at home. This way, if something happens in the area where you are vacationing, your loved ones will be able to have a fairly good idea of where you are.

4.	Keep copies of identification at home, even if you take the originals with you.

5.	When you go on vacation, choose one credit card to bring, rather than bringing all of them. This way, if your wallet gets stolen, you will minimize your losses.

6.	Another option is to choose a preloaded credit card, which is really more like a debit card that you put money "on" so that if you end up losing your wallet the thieves cannot wreck your credit rating.

7.	Bring important phone numbers with you on your trip and put them in two different places. Bring a phone number that will cancel your credit card; if you're traveling out of the country bring a phone number to reach the embassy; bring phone numbers of close family and friends who can help you if you get into trouble; and bring phone numbers of the hotel and car rental company as well.

8.	You'll want to have your travel insurance information. Be sure to keep a copy of your travel insurance at home as well as on your trip so that a family member can access it if necessary.

9.	Bring basic medical information with you, like blood type and allergies, and make sure that the medical information is translated into the primary language of the place you are going to so that non-English-speaking doctors will have no problem understanding the situation.

10.	Know what kind of insurance is covered on your credit card, if that is how you are using to paying for your trip. For example, some credit cards cover car rental insurance, but may not cover it in the country are you are going to. Be sure to know what insurance you have before you leave.

About The Author

Jeff Lakie is the founder of http://www.my-discount-airfare.info and http://www.my-airfares.info websites providing information on Travel.

Airfare for the Wayfarer

by: Frederic Madore

Have you checked the price of airfare lately? Are you like myself, and quite afraid to contemplate that you?re going to spend that inheritance from Aunt Tilley on a flight to LA? For the general public, air travel is still an occasional event, and airfare is still comparable to a surprise attack of influenza.

We all will agree that air travel is much nicer than the open road (and faster), when you?re in a hurry and in a compact car. Airfare, however, is not the pleasant experience that air travel is. Airfare, once you?re past the sticker shock, is a confusing subject. The prospective traveler can go online, and check for cheap, discounted airfare, on several websites that are independent of any airline sponsorship. What you will find is a confusing list of possible flights, possible fares, and a message that alerts you to hurry to book at these discounted prices. At this point, I generally long for a course in Airfare 101.

Okay, everyone here?s your Basic Instruction class. There are roundtrip tickets, last minute tickets, discounted and bargain tickets. First class, coach, and business tickets; Oh yes, and let?s not forget, the International airfare tickets. Those are the tickets that come with nitroglycerin tablets as a complimentary gift.

Roundtrip airfare refers to flight purchases that allow you to go to and from your destination on just one ticket. This is the most desired form of travel, and quite frankly, often the cheapest. Last minute airfare can cause nosebleeds. The tickets can be purchased online, but only after you mortgage the farm, and promise your next child to Delta. Low cost, bargain, and discounted airfare is usually available thru websites like Cheap Seats, Priceline.com, and VacationsToGo.com. The prices are often a great deal, if you don?t mind the occasional ?bump? when too many seats are booked, or you can plan and purchase 2 years in advance. The classification of business, first class, or coach tickets would refer to your seating accommodations on the aircraft. The most desired seating would be the first class section. Here, seats are big, roomy, and stuffed with the softest feathers on the market. Wine, cocktails, and a great meal are often standard fare on flights offering first class seating. Coming back to reality, however, there is business or coach for the rest of us citizenry who must actually purchase our own tickets.

Lately, with all the bad publicity that international tourism has been receiving (thanks to the terrorists), international airfare has seen modest decreases. Of course, really wonderful destinations like Paris, Rome, and London are still purchased with the complimentary nitroglycerin tablets.

As a seasoned traveler, I can promise you that even with this highly educational course, you won?t be any clearer about what you need, when you need it, as you purchase your next airfare. You will never be able to pin the airlines down as to their exact formula for pricing options, mostly because they don?t have one. The last lesson in Airfare 101: As you prepare to purchase your next airline tickets, you can throw out all the rules and formulas, close your eyes, and just pick one!

About The Author

Frederic Madore is the founder of the http://www.airfare-information-center.info website.
How To Find Cheap Airfare

by: Steve Gillman

To find cheap airfare, you need to do a little research. Start with the well-known sites, like Expedia, Travelocity, Cheap Tickets, Hotwire or Priceline. The travel agencies just can't compete with the discount sites any longer. You can also find cheap airfare by using the search engines. Type in something like "cheap plane tickets" and the destination.

I just checked fares from Tucson, Arizona to Traverse City, Michigan on the five sites mentioned above. Tickets ranged from $704 to $432 for the cheapest at each site (and up to $500 more for the most expensive). It isn't important which was cheapest (oh, okay, it was Expedia). It isn't important because you never know from day to day which sites will find the cheapest flights. It changes all the time

When you search, always check at least three places. It would mean a savings of $272 in the above example. Flight durations were within minutes of each other, by the way, and the food is probably equally bad on all the flights.

Find Cheap Airfare With Flexibility

Sometimes it's cheaper to buy two tickets. The lowest rate from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Tucson, Arizona is $451 roundtrip as I write this. Las Vegas to Tucson is $161, however, and there are $199 specials to Vegas from Grand Rapids. Is saving $91 worth booking two flights? Your call (It saved us over $1000 when we went to South America). Careful on the timing, though. You probably won't get a refund if you miss the connection.

More flexibility is the way to find cheap airfare. Check different departure and return dates. Click on "2 or more connecting flights," and mark "anytime" for departure. Even if you don't want to leave at midnight, the savings might change your mind, so try all the options. When the savings aren't enough, you can always book first class, direct flights, or whatever you prefer.

Purchasing ahead of time gets you cheaper airfare. Less than a week away tends to be expensive, although you never can tell in the mysterious realm of airfare pricing. At times the "last minute specials" are the best thing going.

Place a bid to find cheap airfare. Priceline still has a "Name Your Own Price" feature. You make your bid, and the airlines say yes or no, according to whether they have empty seats to fill. The way to use this is to first search for the cheapest tickets you can find online, then go and bid lower than that. If the bid is rejected, return to the website where you found the best deal and book it.

Package deals, where you pay for plane tickets and your hotel room, can sometimes save you money. Personally, I haven't had much luck with these, but it can't hurt to look at them.

Really Cheap Airfare

I once took a bus from Michigan to Miami, and flew from there to Ecuador. At the time saving hundreds of dollars was worth 38 hours on a bus. Usually this won't save you much on domestic flights. For example, at the moment, taking a bus from Traverse City to Detroit, then flying to Los Angeles, would only save about $70 (allowing for cab fare to the airport) compared with flying directly.

Other options are beyond the scope of this article. For example, courier flights can be a great deal if you don't mind letting a company use your baggage allowance (you get carry-on only). Then there are the stand-by deals, last minute deals and other ways to find cheap airfare.

About The Author

Steve Gillman hit the road at sixteen, and traveled the U.S. and Mexico alone at 17. Now 40, he travels with his wife Ana, whom he met in Ecuador.
Cheap Air Fares - The Secrets to Getting Cheap Air Fares

by: Anthony Kristovich III

Cheap air fares are easy if you keep these 8 tips in mind. Airlines aim to make as much money as possible. They are not going to put the cheap air fares out front, so you need to know how to find those gold mines yourself.

There are basically 8 rules I use on a regular basis when booking flights to be sure I get to my destination the cheapest way. These are tips that every person can easily use, frequently cutting the price in half you pay.

1. Make your reservation as early as possible. At least 14 days in advance. After this time, the air tickets can easily more than double in price and cheap air fares may not be available.

2. Be flexible with your travel time. Changing the day or the time of day can drastically reduce the price of your air flight. The best day to fly on is Wednesday, which is also the best day to book the flight on. The cheapest time to fly is early morning or late evening.

3. Fly during the off-season. Prices are a direct result of supply and demand. As demand goes down, prices go down as well, benefiting flyers.

4. Shop all the airlines. This is the most possible using a couple of key air travel websites that I recommend on my site at the bottom. Being able to check all the airlines side-by-side can make it really easy to get those cheap air fares you're after.

5. A stopover instead of a direct flight can result in huge savings.

6. Membership in some clubs like AAA can get you discounts.

7. Look into air travel packages. Purchasing your air travel, hotel, and rental car through the same place usually gives a massive discount. Using a bigger air fare website will allow you to get both cheap air fares and cheap hotels in the same place in moments. I have recommendations for this on my site as well as to which are the easiest to use and take the least time to book the flights and anything additional.

The prices on air fares are a direct result of competition, inventory, and demand. Competition is the airlines competing with each other. Inventory is how many seats are left open on a given flight. Demand is how many people are looking for air travel tickets.

8. By choosing the least-crowded flights that are the least in demand, you get the cheap air fares you want. It's really that simple.

As you can see, there are many ways to get better prices. If you use a good air fares website and choose the best days and times to fly, you can often get cheap air fares and save a hefty amount of money in the process. Most of this is easier in practice for the well setup sites to compare all the airlines side-by-side. The cheaper prices stick out like a sore thumb. There are also many hidden deals also that don't get as known, so I have done the leg work to find you the best site to book everything from cruise ship vacations to cheap hotels to cheap air fares, all in one place. Also I have tracked down running specials on the cheap air fares, some as nice as 50% off the prices of the cheap air fares giving you deals that simply can't be beat.

About The Author

Anthony Kristovich III

For more information on our recommendations for who has the easiest website, along with best deals on hotels and cheap air fares, visit our recommendation page at http://www.earticlesonline.com/air-travel-recommendations.html on http://www.eArticlesOnline.com.
A Guide to Finding Cheap Loans

by: John Mussi

Finding cheap loans isn't always easy? it seems like every time you turn around new rates and fees are added and the loan process becomes increasingly frustrating with each new change that's made.

Cheap loans don't have to be such a hassle, however? there are a variety of loan options available for people of all credit levels that allow you to get the money that you need without paying extremely bloated fees and interest rates.

If you're looking for cheap loans, you should keep in mind the fact that it might take a little while to find the best loans and that you shouldn't take the first loan offer that's made to you? after all, you never know whether or not a better offer is going to come along unless you take a little time to research your options.

Shop for your loan

Just like you would shop and compare different products before making the decision to buy, you should take the time to shop around for cheap loans so that you'll receive the best possible loan terms and interest rate for your money.

A variety of lenders offer cheap loans, ranging from traditional banks to finance companies? visit several of these lenders to get quotes for your loan so as to find the best deal.

Getting a secured loan, which means that the loan amount is guaranteed with collateral of some type, is one of the easiest ways to reduce interest rates? because there is an additional guarantee that the loan will be repaid, lenders that issue a secured loan will usually do so with a reduced interest rate and better loan terms than they would for an unsecured loan.

Once you've received several different loan quotes, compare the interest rates and loan terms of all of them so that you can find the best loan for your needs.

Online options

If you hadn't considered trying to find cheap loans online, it might be worth your time to investigate the option.

Online lenders can often approve cheap loans with agreeable terms as fast or faster than physical lenders such as banks and finance companies, and have the added convenience of being accessible from the comfort and security of your own home.

These lenders can even offer cheap loans to people with less than perfect credit (with a sufficient amount of home equity), so if this is a factor in the lending process for you it's definitely worth looking at.

You should take the time to investigate several online lenders as well as the physical lenders that you're getting quotes from, comparing the rates and terms of all of the lenders to see which truly offers the better deal? remember, the extra time that you spend now in research and gathering quotes to compare will more than be made up for by savings in time and money due to a lower interest rate and more flexible loan repayment terms.

--

You may freely reprint this article provided the following author's biography (including the live URL link) remains intact:

About The Author

John Mussi is the founder of Direct Online Loans who help homeowners find the best available loans via the www.directonlineloans.co.uk website.

Cheap Backpacks

by: Steve Gillman

Cheap backpacks can be made, but I don't recommend it. Unless you are extremely skilled at sewing, it isn't likely to come out like you want. Also, even if you are an expert, it will probably take less of your time to pick up an extra day at work and buy a pack with the earnings.

On the other hand, if you have an old backpack frame, you can make a cheap backpack with it. Remove the old pack, and tie a plain nylon duffel bag to it firmly, with the zipper facing out. Small bungee cords will work for attaching it too. I did this using an old aluminum frame that still had straps and a waist belt, and for the cost of a $15 duffel bag, I had an external-frame backpack that not only held a lot, but weighed just two pounds.

Buying Cheap Backpacks

There are several ways to buy cheap backpacks. The most obvious is to just wait for a good sale. A quicker way is to shop for a used pack online. Try Ebay.com, or go to a backpacking or other outdoor forum that allows people to sell their gear, like whiteblaze.net. The forums are nice, because you can easily ask questions about the pack.

You can also buy used backpacks cheap at rummage sales. Watch the ads for any mention of outdoor gear, and call to see if they have a backpack you might want. You may be able to buy it before the sale starts. Otherwise, start shopping early, and negotiate a bit. I recently sold a beautiful Kelty frame-pack for $15 at a garage sale.

Thrift stores sometimes have cheap backpacks. More often they have day packs, but you never know. I have seen big old frame packs that were rough at thrift shops, and it occurred to me that for a few dollars I could just toss the pack, and use the frame with a duffel bag, as described above.

Another way to keep the cost down is to go light. The lightweight backpacks, unlike other lightweight gear, are always cheaper than the big packs. If you have been thinking about lightening the load, you can save money too. Ultralight backpacks are usually under two pounds and frame-less. You'll probably use a sleeping pad as a "frame" of sorts. The good news is that they are often on sale for under $100.

Go-Lite has several packs that are near $100, and sometimes on sale for less than that. The list price on the Granite Gear Virga Ultra Light Packer may still be under $100, and I have seen it on sale for under $80. It also weighs only 21 ounces, a bonus for me, as I like the idea of light AND cheap backpacks.

About The Author

Steve Gillman is a long-time backpacker, and advocate of lightweight backpacking.
